Welcome to Collecting Railwayana. This site has been created with the following aims:-

  • as a lasting memory of Harold Ernest William Watts 1904 - 2002, my grandfather, who started my interest in railways. More details about Harold and his Railway career spanning over 50 years can be viewed here

  • to give a brief insight into the arena of Collecting Railwayana, including Builders Plates, Depot Plaques, Nameplates and Totems.

  • to illustrate the many different styles and designs of locomotive nameplates that were, and still are, in use around Britainís railway system. There are over 650 photographs in the Nameplates section of this site including examples from Steam, Diesel and Electric through to the latest Virgin Voyagers and Pendolinos

  • as an incentive to visit one of the many Auctions & Events to find out what the hobby is really all about. Collecting Railwayana is a rewarding hobby and usually an investment especially as interest rates are so low

  • to provide a means for fellow collectors to advertise their Surplus Items
